Flannery 2

The Flannery 2 bid shows 5 [or sometimes 6] and 4 and 11 to 15 HCP (points should mostly be in your suits)

Responders bid are:

• Pass - Responder may pass the 2 bid if responder has less than 10 HCPs and a 6-card diamond suit
• 2/2 - this is a sign-off indicating less than 10 support points,
• 3/3 - if the responder bids a Minor, then his partner should bid 3NT with a fit of Ax or Kx or Qxx
• 3/3 - these are invitational jump bids, and partner may pass
• 4 - this is a transfer bid to 4 and Game
• 4 - this is a transfer bid to 4 and Game
• 2NT - Responder wishes more information about the Minor holdings.

Responses to 2NT are:

• 3/3 shows a 3-card minor with singleton in the unbid minor
• 3 shows 11-13 HCPs and 2 cards in each Minor Suit
• 3 shows 14-15 HCPs and 2 cards in each Minor Suit
• 3NT shows 14-15 HCPs and 2 cards in each minor (Queen or better)
• 4/4 a jump bid to show a 4-card MINOR holding therefore a void in unbid minor.
• 4 shows a six card heart suit, for those who play this style.

If using 2 to show possibly 5/6 hearts and four spades be sure you have discussed this with your partner
