Woodgroves 2

These responses are adjusted to fit with Woodgroves Multi. You can of course use this convention even if you don't use Woodgroves Multi, but then 3/3 don't promise a side suit and 3NT shows a balanced 25-27 HCP. Are you one of those who become afraid when you have 2 long suits and your partner opens with a strong 2? Maybe these responses are the answer to you prayers.

RESPONSES TO 2 OPENING:

• 2 - 0-5 HCP, or 6 HCP+ and waiting (may well be unbalanced).
• 2NT - At least 5-5 in the minor suits.
• 3 - At least 5-5 in hearts and clubs
• 3 - At least 5-5 in spades and clubs
• 3NT - At least 5-5 in spades and diamonds

REBIDS AFTER 2 - 2:

• 2/ - Natural (After which a 2NT response = 6 HCP+).
• 2NT - Strong NT (20-21 / 22-24 / ?-?).
• 3/ - 5+card with side suit.
• 3/ - 5+card. Game forcing.
• 3NT - 9/10 playing tricks. Unbalanced hand.

FURTHER BIDDING AFTER:

2 - 2 - 3 - 3 (asking for side suit):

Bid your side suit (3NT = diamonds)

2 - 2 - 3 - 3 (asking for side suit):

NOTE! Because a heart rebid from the responder is conventional in this sequence (asking for side suit): 3NT shows hearts

• 3NT = 5 + hearts
• 3 = 5+ spades as usual
