An opening bid of 2 to show a three-suited hand of 11-15HCP. The opener may have a five card minor suit (4-5-5-0), but most partnerships do not permit an opening with a five card major. Responder bids 2NT to ask opener to bid the short suit. Unlike the standard Roman 2 and Mini-Roman, however, opener bids the suit below the shortness.
Opener bids spades to show club shortness. This allows responder to pass at a cheaper level, and to use the short suit as a cue bid to force to game and beyond.
