Unit 390 Sectionals 299er Masterpoint Race
The Unit 390 Sectionals 299er Masterpoint Race was established in 2025 to acknowledge the performance of its members in 299er events played at unit sectionals held throughout the calendar year.
The list showing the current standings is updated after each Unit 390 tournament to reflect the masterpoints awarded at that sectional. Points won at both regular tournaments (299er, 199er and 49er events only) and 299er sectionals count toward a player’s total.
The 2026 race to date includes points won at the first three events in the Unit’s annual tournament cycle:
– the New Year’s Sectional held in January
– the Canmore Winter Sectional held in March
– the 299er Sectional held in May
– the Labour Day Sectional held at the beginning of September
Please note that masterpoints won at the Spring Sectional held in June do not count in this race since there were no dedicated 299er/199er/49er events.
Masterpoints won at the Non-Life Master Regional, also held in June, do not count towards this race because that tournament was outside the Sectional category.
Now that the Calgary Labour Day Sectional has wrapped up, new names top the leaderboard in the Unit 390 Sectionals 299er Masterpoint Race. Participation by the up-and-coming players was amazing, with fifty-seven and one-half tables competing in five sessions of 199er/299er pairs games.
Nancy Penner collected 5.7 masterpoints at the tournament and now leads the race with 13.3 masterpoints. Close behind are Nancy Brooks and Warren Johnston at 10.6 and 10.4 masterpoints respectively.
With just one tournament remaining on the schedule — the Unit 390 299er sectional to be held October 24 — it will be tough for anyone to overtake Nancy.
So far this year, one hundred and forty-eight Unit members have earned won masterpoints in the 299er/199er/49er games.
