Mentorship Program

Unit 390 Mentorship Program

Unit 390’s inaugural Mentorship Program was launched in 2009 and has operated regularly since then. The program revolves around the vision that Calgary will have a large contingent of bridge players with excellent skill levels that are able to compete in North American competitions.

Players who wish to have a mentor for the season are matched with more experienced players who are willing to coach and give advice on how to improve at the game.

The program begins with registration of mentors and mentees. The Mentorship Committee tries its very best to match each mentee with just the right person. Once the match-ups are made, the pairs are expected to play at least six games of bridge together over the following few months.

Those who have mentors are encouraged to reciprocate if and when they feel comfortable. It’s a give and take approach … give back to those coming from where you’ve been.

Thanks to the hundreds of volunteer mentors and eager mentees, the Mentorship Program continues to be an overwhelming success.
